And Vanilmon I didn’t really make any changes on except the fact that I can’t draw him like you; he was already perfect |D

100% serious. The three I tagged were the most common, but there was a few  ”kindergarten”s here and there as well. One girl really did know German, and she was utterly baffled by what was going on.

I like to think I have an appreciation for art, but I stop appreciating when someone or something dies as a form of art.  This is disturbing.

You know…I really, honestly don’t understand people like the Anon.  What do they expect to achieve?  Their work has zero substance, so they have zero credibility.  Do they expect anyone to care what they have to say, when there’s no reasoning to support their opinions?  (In fact, they said so little that I’m not even really sure if they mean that what I posted was out of line, or the graphic itself was out of line….I hope it’s not premature to count this as my first Anon hate.  I really can’t tell.)

Oh well, they make me giggle anyway.

I could compare this to so many people or a certain someone. But, I’m not like that. Also, good song here~

….”Good song?”  No.  No, you’ve missed the point entirely.

This song (and especially the music video that goes with it) involves a huge amount of slut-shaming, which is what this graphic is trying to get across.  It’s about a jealous girl who displays “nice guy syndrome” as badly as any man: She has a crush on a guy who is going out with another girl.  She doesn’t like the girl because the girl (1) has caught the attention of the guy (2) by wearing short skirts (like it’s anyone’s business what a girl chooses to wear?) and (3) cheerleading.  That’s literally all this other girl does according to the song, but the fact that she wears short skirts and cheerleads is apparently enough to imply that she is a slut, who does this to get attention from boys.  Is it any wonder that the jealous girl would paint her rival for this guy’s affections in such a negative light?  No, it’s not, and it seriously calls into question everything else that the song’s narrator/singer says.

But back to the girl who sings the song herself: She’s actually a terrible person. Not only does she imply that her rival is a slut, she thinks that because she and this guy enjoy talking to each other and being together as friends, she is entitled to his romantic affections: She is nice to him, so “You belong with me!” she declares.  And that’s never true. No one has the right to decide where any other person belongs.  She’s just a jealous teen who’s upset that she’s not getting her way, and because she sees her crush as perfect, she turns all her frustration on the girl, who is ‘oh so obviously stealing him from me, when he belongs with me!’ and therefore gets to be branded a slut.

And this is why I can’t like Taylor Swift.  This isn’t the only song of hers that promotes jealousy and slut-shaming and feeds on teenage insecurity to do it.  “Why You Gotta Be So Mean” employs similarly childish notions of the revenge fantasy, with its lyrics “Someday I’ll be living in a big old city, and all you’re ever gonna be is mean”—When I make it to the top and become hugely wealthy (which I’m assuming I will do, even though it’s highly statistically unlikely, in order to feed my revenge fantasy), you will be nothing, and then I will be vindicated, and enjoy pointing back at you in your hovel and calling you pathetic.  She’s literally taken on the behavior of her bully, all while falsely claiming that “the cycle ends right now, ‘cause you won’t lead me down that road.”  But she has been led there.  And she’s relishing it.

Taylor Swift may promote notions of childlike, innocent love, but she also promotes childish notions of jealousy, revenge fantasies and slut-shaming that discourage moral growth, which is why I cannot enjoy her songs.  I will acknowledge that it makes sense that thousands of insecure teenagers in similar situations feel drawn to her work.  But she isn’t doing them any favors with these kinds of songs that let them wallow in their self-pity and fail to teach them how to handle problems like adults.
